Job Description

Summary of Position: An equipment operator who is authorized and scheduled to drive a forklift, order picker and/or yard dog is responsible for moving, locating, relocating, consolidating, stacking, picking, and counting of merchandise. The Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle up to and including observing all maintenance procedures before and after driving. Based on work demand, this position does not exclude equipment operators from working in non-equipment areas.

The primary responsibilities/essential functions of this position include the following, but are subject to change based upon operating necessity:

  • Lift boxes up to 60lbs and move them 10 to 15 feet from delivery trucks to pallets during an 8-hour shift. Must be able to lift 60lbs individually. Separate boxes by Purchase Order, style and size and place in staging area.
  • Check merchandise into stock that includes; matching selling units to packing slip, counting boxes and verifying total units by size.
  • Operate a hand pallet jack to move filled pallets of merchandise, up to 1,000 lbs up to 300 feet.
  • Utilize forklift to move merchandise from dock to staging area, primary location in the packing area or other locations as needed.
  • Create a primary location for any new merchandise, log and enter this information into system.
  • Select merchandise based on information from RF device. Appropriately stage the mdse by class/route.

Job Requirements

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Accurately use basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Utilize the STS/RDM system to enter merchandise location into the system.
  • Read and interpret a packing slip, invoice, RF device, etc. to ensure that all merchandise has been received and is checked into the facility. Verify totals to ensure correct shipments.
  • Operate a forklift following all safety guidelines.
  • Understand and follow all safety procedures and guidelines within the D.C.

The marginal responsibilities/functions of this position include the following, but are subject to change based upon operating necessity:

  • Generate all required receiving documents.
  • Verify RF device information to receiving memo for all shipments.
  • Update SKU data and receiving log using the STS/RDM system.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Possess ability to work with Word and Excel software.

Work Hours and Environment:

  • Typical work hours for day shift are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday thru Friday.
  • Overtime and some weekend work may be required based on business needs.
  • Work in a warehouse setting and possess the ability to work on your feet throughout the shift.
