The Procurement Specialist will provide daily support on assigned spend categories. This role works closely with internal business partners, field teams, and suppliers to provide the best possible experience for the Gymboree customer. The Procurement Specialist must demonstrate a strong understanding of assigned spend categories, inventory management, supplier landscape, and purchase order management. This role will collect data, create and analyze spend/usage reports, and identify potential sourcing opportunities. This person will work with internal business partners to develop short/long-range programs/projects and seamlessly implement and communicate. This person will take ownership of the process by developing & leading the procurement strategy making sure that each project is successful. This person is viewed as a trusted business advisor and an excellent source of knowledge to business partner executives.

The ideal candidate has experience conducting bid process, placing purchase orders, and negotiating short term supplier agreements. This person must demonstrate excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, be highly organized, self-motivated, good listener, and solution-oriented problem solver with the ability to handle a variety of tasks independently and efficiently. Additionally, this individual must be energetic, ethical, and desire a fast- paced work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily internal support to store teams in regards to their spend to ensure their business needs are met. Award authorized purchase orders and confirm vendor receipt /acceptance
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues; ensure vendor deliveries are on time
  • Minimize procurement related business disruptions to end-customers
  • Responsible for providing financial analysis to identify new opportunities in existing and previously non-source spend areas; implement change management with all levels of business partners.
  • Responsible for helping to build monthly store budgets based on cost of goods, historical data, sales, transactions, and need.
  • Strength in developing partnership with vendors and developing reporting requirements to track and benchmark savings and identify additional areas of spend with possible opportunities.
  • Ability to provide creative cost efficient solutions to meet company needs without compromising quality, customer service and delivery requirements.
  • Strong work ethic and integrity.
  • Proven ability in communicating and interfacing with executive teams, internal business partners, and vendors; strengthen relationships by forming cohesive teams and partner to achieve common goals.
  • High energy, detail oriented self-starter with multi-tasking abilities.
  • Driven by challenges to provide innovative solutions; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 2 years’ experience in supply chain role, e.g. purchasing, sourcing, etc.
  • Ability to understand and perform in all aspects of supply chain management
  • Excellent customer service skills. Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and other business partners
  • Demonstrate initiative, mature judgement, great customer service orientation, and the ability to anticipate the needs of the organization
  • Expertise in conducting bid process (RFI, RFP and informal bids) and negotiating short-term suppliers
  • Ability to provide creative cost efficient solutions to meet company needs without compromising quality, customer service and delivery requirements
  • Understanding of pricing strategies and minimum order requirements
  • Able to take direction, work independently, and perform detailed work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; handle multiple projects simultaneously; and ensure tasks are completed and deadlines are met as required
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, project management, and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills required
