Job Description

Summary of Position: A material handler in the Distribution Center’s (D.C.) Packing Team is responsible for retail store order fulfillment on the packing line or sortation unit system in accordance with Gymboree standards. This position is responsible for preparing the boxes, accurately filling the boxes and labeling the boxes for the shipping team. This is a non-exempt position that reports to the Shift Operations Supervisor.

The primary responsibilities/essential functions of this position include the following, but are subject to change based upon operating necessity:

  • Prepare boxes for each store for packing. This includes placement on the sorter or pack-line, labeling and marking each box.
  • Use the electronic scan gun or manual calculation to determine the units of merchandise required for each store.
  • Read and interpret the RF device, placing the appropriate quantities of merchandise (units) into each store’s box.
  • Stand, bend, twist, reach and toss merchandise at shoulder and shoulder and waist level while packing boxes.
  • Push filled boxes, up to 50 lbs., with flaps folded inward, from the packing line to the shipping conveyor.
  • Lift and carry up to a 60lb box. Must be able to lift 60lbs individually.
  • Place all required paperwork in each filled box.

Job Requirements

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Accurately use basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Read and interpret RF Device to fulfill orders accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Read and interpret electronic numerical display.
  • Understand and follow all safety procedures and guidelines within the DC.

Work Hours and Environment:

  • Typical work hours for day shift are Monday thru Friday 6:00a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • Overtime and some weekend work may be required based on business needs.
  • Work in a warehouse setting and possess the ability to work on your feet throughout the shift.
