Material Handler- Inventory Control

Job Description

Summary of Position: The Inventory Control Material Handler will be conducting cycle counts and perform consolidation of Gymboree’s product in the DC. This position is also responsible for performing outbound audits, research, and any special projects as required.

To be prosperous in this position, the Inventory Control Material Handler must have an understanding of inventory processes, warehousing, and good organization and communication skills. The successful candidate should have 1 year experience in a distribution or similar environment or function. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that reports into the Inventory Control Supervisor.

The primary responsibilities/essential functions of this position include the following, but are subject to change based upon operating necessity:

  • Work with team Lead to conduct DC audits and cycle counts in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy of all audits and cycle counts performed.
  • Attend inventory meetings to help identify issues and resolve problems.
  • Assist Inventory Control Lead with any issues that need to be addressed.
  • Operate a hand pallet jack to move filled pallets of merchandise, up to 1,000 lbs.
  • Lift boxes up to 50 lbs.
  • Pick up and appropriately discard all boxes, cartons, and strapping tape to ensure a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ensure that work areas are kept clean and all safety guidelines are followed.

Job Requirements

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Possess strong organization, and communication skills.
  • Experience working with inventory auditing processes and cycle counting.
  • Posse’s interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team setting.
  • Stand, bend, twist, reach and toss merchandise at shoulder and waist level while packing boxes.
  • Accurately use basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Posse’s ability to work with Word, and Excel software and the STS system.
  • Understand and follow all safety procedures and guidelines within the DC.

Hours of Work and Work Environment:

  • Typical work hours for day shift are Monday thru Friday from 6:00am - 2:30pm.
  • Typical work hours for swing shift are Monday thru Friday 2:45pm -11:15pm.
  • Overtime and some weekend work may be required based on business needs.
  • Work in a warehouse setting.
