Maintenance Supervisor

Job Description

Summary of Position:

The Maintenance Supervisor position is a working supervisor position responsible for the Maintenance, Janitorial and Landscape team, within the distribution center. Under the direction of the Facility Manager; the Maintenance Supervisor will determine workloads and schedules; develop, interpret and implement policies and procedures. The Maintenance Supervisor will also ensure that the team is trained in complex maintenance activities and are following standard operating procedures. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible to ensure that the DC is in compliance with local, state and federal regulations for the Gymboree Distribution Center. This person will work with the various DC departments to develop and recommend process improvements as well as working with outside vendors and contractors.

The Primary functions of this position include the following:

  • Must be responsive and prepared to coordinate the maintenance team to make timely and safe repairs to damaged or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Assign and inspect work for completeness
  • Ability to understand complex written and oral instructions.
  • Maintain the Preventative Maintenance Program ensuring that all equipment and systems are being kept in good working order and work is being performed in a safe and timely manner.
  • Be a technical resource for the Maintenance Mechanics while troubleshooting equipment or systems.
  • Manage inventory levels of spare parts.
  • Involved in the design and development of facilities work areas and work procedures and make recommendations accordingly.
  • Coordinates and inspects major contract work on the electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other related systems in the warehouse.
  • Provide input into the development of the operating budget for the assigned area of responsibility.

Job Requirements

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Possess 2 to 4 years experience in a supervisory capacity in either a Manufacturing or Distribution environment.
  • Must have 5-10 years experience in either a mechanical or electrical trade.
  • Possess the ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Must be flexible and adaptive to changing priorities.
  • Be a proactive self-starter who is an excellent problem-solver.
  • Must display a positive demeanor with the ability to accept constructive criticism.
  • Collaborate with peers to ensure consistency of information and the sharing of best practices.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Interact positively with the Leadership Team and team members.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Have excellent organizational and good record keeping skills.
  • Be readily available to work unscheduled hours and unplanned hours as the business needs dictate to include nights and weekends.
  • Have the ability to direct and hold accountable team members and others to all Gymboree’s policies.
