What You’ll Do

As the Leave & Disability Specialist, you will serve as a subject matter expert for the management of all aspects of leaves of absence and disability accommodation for employees, including medical and family leaves, Workers’ Compensation leaves, ADA Accommodations, long term disability, military leaves, personal leaves and any and all leaves covered by Federal, State and/or local ordinances.

Responsibilities include:

  • Interpret and administer leave programs and policies in accordance with applicable federal, state and/or local employment laws (i.e., FMLA, ADA, Pregnancy Disability Act etc.) including tracking hours used/taken if applicable.
  • Provide information and guidance to employees regarding Gymboree’s leave policies, applying for leaves, and applying for state/local disability and paid family leave benefits as applicable.
  • Ensure that workers compensation program is managed in accordance with applicable workers compensation and OSHA laws. Conduct/Coordinate investigations into all reported workers compensation claim.
  • Independently approve and/or deny leave cases based on relevant medical information. Coordinate and organize all medical information submitted to the company and ensure that HIPAA and Employee Privacy guidelines are closely monitored and effectively executed.
  • Work closely with employees to ensure that all relevant completed medical documentation is submitted for timely review with regard to approved FMLA, ADA and Workers’ Compensation leaves. Maintain appropriate contact with all employees on leave. Coordinate all aspects of return to work for employees on leave in conjunction with HR.
  • In partnership with HR and Legal and other leaders, oversee the leave accommodations and work restrictions under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Produce and manage reporting metrics and analytics for all leave and workers compensation cases/claims. Present reports as needed.
  • Partner closely with HR on all leave and workers compensation cases. Meets regularly with HR business partners to review claims’ status and develop strategies for resolution.
  • Assist in the creation and facilitation of leave administration and workers compensation administration training programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

What You’ll Bring

  • 3-5 years related Leave Administration and/or Workers Compensation Experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or professional HR certification preferred.
  • Extensive demonstrative knowledge of federal, state and local leave law such as FMLA, Pregnancy Disability Act, ADA.
  • Ability to analyze information and convert related activities into a comprehensive work plan.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate detailed and complex information to others with tack and empathy.
  • Aptitude and willingness to work with complex procedures and frequent ambiguities.
