The Copy Manager sits within Brand Creative Services (BCS) and owns the voice for all marketing needs across the Crazy 8 and Janie and Jack brands. BCS is responsible for seasonal campaign development, including windows and in-store marketing, direct mail, print advertising, marketing partnerships, and packaging. Working cross-functionally with the E-Commerce team, the Copy Manager also writes and manages copy for all digital needs, including email campaigns, online banners, social posts, and product descriptions. The Copy Manager will work within a fun and inspiring team of writers, and will report to the Director, Copy.

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to the development of brand standards and deliver copy in the right voice with consistency.
  • Understand and develop a balance of creative and strategic messaging.
  • Continually push the Crazy 8 and Janie and Jack voices forward.
  • Mentor and manage the time of the Janie and Jack Copywriter and Product Copywriter across Crazy 8 and Janie and Jack.
  • Present ideas to business partners and leadership with confidence.
  • Be a team player, building strong relationships with Copy team, Graphic Designers, Creative Directors and cross-functional partners (E-Commerce, Marketing, Merchandising, Legal, etc.).
  • Edit and proofread with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Keep the Copy Director updated on project status, initiatives and key issues.

Job Requirements

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years professional copywriting experience in print and digital mediums.
  • Experience managing and mentoring a team of writers.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating campaigns and writing strategic, compelling headlines.
  • Creative chops and problem-solving with strong organizational skills.
  • Firm understanding of retail and best practices, what is happening in the marketplace and copy trends.
  • Ability to confidently present and defend creative work.
  • Ability to deliver error-free copy under tight deadlines, and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to take direction and be flexible through changes in strategy and creative direction while keeping a healthy morale.
