What You’ll Do

In this role, you will provide support for the retail merchandising systems business area. S/he will work as the liaison between business partners and the IS&T group in order to support existing systems and provide analysis for systems implementation, upgrade and enhancement projects. The position requires knowledge in retail, wholesale and/or international business processes with experience in merchandise planning, assortment planning, initial allocation and replenishment systems. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate an ability to perform analysis of key requirements and clearly communicate alternatives and recommendations to decision-makers. This person must be able to respond quickly to support issues, evaluate alternatives and create and execute against an action plan. The Business Systems Analyst must be able to prepare and execute testing plans to ensure high quality results. This person will be required to document business and functional/technical specifications for system development based on user requirements and must be able to provide support through Fiscal Month/Quarter/Year End cycles and peak periods.

Responsibilities include:

  • Communication: Collaborate with IT project team members and business partners to understand and analyze business requirements and processes. Experienced with capturing business processes and functional requirements using standard requirement & modeling techniques.
  • Adaptability: Possesses the ability to balance and align focus based on the business objectives of all stakeholders at a project level, while managing expectations and internal customer commitments.
  • Problem solving: Is able to identify practical solutions to business issues and problems. Can evaluate business solutions to determine ability to meet all stakeholder needs within project boundaries. Is able to diagnose root causes of business issues, problems and potential opportunities and develop process and functional solutions.
  • Business acumen: Is able to formulate probing questions to elicit business knowledge from the stakeholders. Has practical knowledge in the functional area being impacted by the project, or has the ability to quickly acquire a solid understanding. Demonstrates a broad understanding of the retail value chain, accounting principles and industry applications. Understands how core processes deliver value and meet the organization’s defined business objectives.
  • Financial Knowledge: Has the ability to understand the financial impact of a project or support process on the organization’s bottom-line. Able to quantify costs, savings and risks for a given project, feature or change request. Has the ability to perform and present cost/benefit and risk analysis and identify potential trade-offs of competing solutions.
  • Program/Project Process and Data Management expertise: able to estimate Business Analyst tasks / activities. Is able to determine project areas where BA resources are needed and what BA activities need to be provided. Has a general understanding of Change Management concepts, tools and techniques. Has a general understanding of Business Process Management concepts, tools and techniques. Is able to meet project schedule deadlines.

Job Requirements

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or related field
  • Six Sigma, Lean or other business process improvement training or education looked upon favorably
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in Retail, Wholesale, and/or International with focus in building/supporting business capability solutions preferably in the apparel industry.
  • Demonstrated competency writing queries using Oracle/ MS SQL. Experience with report writer tools like SAP Business Objects or MicroStrategy a plus.
  • Previous experience with Oracle Retek Merchandising Systems, JDA Allocation, and/or Product Lifecycle Management applications.
  • Communications: Strong communicator at all levels of the organization. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent presentation skills; very strong in one-on-one communications within small and large groups.
  • Achievement Orientation: Knowledge of how the delivery of IT solutions can enable achievement of business requirements. Skills required include innovative problem solving; decision-making; risk taking; execution expertise.
  • Service Orientation: Working comprehension of research methods to evaluate stakeholder requirements and responses. Skills required include partnering; proactive problem solving; scanning for and sharing business information. Knowledge of the company’s business practices and direction as well as familiarity with the company’s products and resources.
