Job Description

The Assistant Trim Manager is responsible for trim development needs for a specified brand or brands within the Gymboree Group. This individual is responsible for managing the trim development and ensuring that the trims meet testing requirements and protocols. They develop and maintain trim supplier relationships. This role will also be responsible for managing calendar deadlines, and development tracking, as well as the handling of daily communication with overseas agents.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development of seasonal trims that align with production strategies and division goals.
  • Understand divisional and cross-functional goals and work with the team to execute supporting strategies.
  • Utilize technical expertise to translate design intent and call out any limitations regarding testing and execution for that trim in a timely manner.
  • Cost engineer trims within Brand’s parameters, and negotiate trim costs with nominated suppliers, as needed.
  • Ensure each new trim is tested and passed.
  • Troubleshoot and anticipate development and testing issues. Work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues quickly.
  • Have a fundamental understanding of fabric and garment’s construction and how they may correlate to the end use of a trim.
  • Maintain trim library and database.
  • Manage development calendar and tools, and ensure completion as per deadlines.
  • Drive communication with overseas suppliers and agents to ensure business alignment and optimal responsiveness.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, agents, and cross-functional partners.

Job Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree in Product Development, Textiles or equivalent preferred.
  • Interest in product development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to adjust to the current needs of a fast-paced, dynamic department.
  • PLM experience preferred.
  • PC skills: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
