Gymboree invites talented students to join us in our headquarters offices for a challenging, and engaging experience in the retail industry. The 8-12 week Internship Program is an ideal way for students to gain work experience within the core of our organization while learning what a career at Gymboree Group can offer. Interns spend time at our San Francisco headquarters, where they receive meaningful work experience with significant exposure to different areas of the business.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Apparel Design Intern's specific duties include, but may not be limited to:

  • Support design teams in key projects and actively participate in helping to create and assemble presentations for senior leadership
  • On-the-job use of key software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Participate in Product Lifecycle Management systems & tools
  • Develop a working knowledge of the general product pipeline process
  • Participate in trend research to inform future seasonal development
  • Help to keep inspiration samples and sketch boards organized and up to date for use in presentations

Job Requirements

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing or recently completed Bachelors or Master’s degree at an accredited university, preferably in a visual merchandising and/or merchandising major.

  • Strong creative concept development and problem-solving abilities

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Strong organizational and planning skills to ensure timely and accurate execution of responsibilities

  • Experience in Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop

  • Strong ability to identify and execute priorities with a sense of urgency

  • Demonstrated interest in the fashion industry
